Only Through The Pain

Ok, this is a story that popped up on my yahoo when I went to check my mail. It's amazing to me. The strength and determination this man has is astounding.

UFC fighter was eating ketchup and rice before UFC 104
By Steve Cofield

If anyone needed a huge postfight bonus at UFC 104, it was Pat Barry. The heavyweight out of New Orleans, scored Knockout of the Night and Fight of the Night for his victory over Antoni Hardonk. That was good enough for $120,000. Good thing, Barry needed the infusion of cash in the worst way. He confirmed to MMAScrapsRadio that he was completely down on his luck before the fight, agreeing that he had little to eat in Los Angeles the week of the fight.

"I still had my apartment but if something would've happened and the fight had been canceled, I would've been evicted six days later."

Barry, 30, said he didn't even tell his trainer Duke Roufus for fear that he would think the fighter had the wrong motivation going into the fight. Barry said he didn't ask anyone for money including his mother:

"I could ask someone but then at the same time, how hard are you going to work for something if everytime you get in trouble somebody catches you? I did something to put myself in this position I have to work my way out of it."

Barry got his $120,000 bonus check last Tuesday. He couldn't believe it. When he went to deposit the check, his truck wouldn't start. Barry got a jump and hit the bank sporting a black eye and pink striped shorts.

"I go to the bank, I'm sweaty, I've got the black eye, I haven't shaven in two days, I'm strung out because I haven't slept, I have green circles under my eyes so I'm like 'Can I have a deposit slip mam?'. She gives it to me, I fill it out hand it to her. She looks at the deposit slip, then the check, then looks at me and says 'Excuse me I'll be right back.' Then a manager comes out, a guy in a suit and says 'What seems to be the problem?' I was like 'Well I have a black eye, that's the only problem I know this looks really ridiculous.' So he asks me for my ID, I hand him my license an he's like 'Your license says Pat Barry, but this check was written to Patrick Barry.' So I decided to be funny and tell him Pat Barry is in my trunk right now. He didnt laugh. So I told him take your time man do whatever you need to do because I have no where to go and my truck probably wont start when I go outside so you can just do whatever you need to do. An hour later he came back and everything was fine, the check was in my bank account."

Yeah i heard about this the other day. I woulda been pretty mad that they made a big deal out of his license sayin Pat Barry and not Patrick. I probably woulda said "Look, i have no money, no food, my truck barely works half the time, and i just got in a fight with a UFC legend and knocked him out. which led me to a $120,000 check and a black eye. So if you could please make this work I'd be really grateful."

I would imagine he was so happy to have that $120,000 check in hand that he didn't mind waiting a little longer. Livin that way sucks, and he'd been that way for a bit.

I read that story. Bank douche aside, that was pretty sweet timing.

ha sound close to my life right now.
Minus the check for $120,000 and i don't at the moment have a black eye.
The rest is probably how I'll be living for while.

In the year 2003, age 10.

My grandpa died.
My grandma died.
My mom spent the whole month of September in the hospital with a blood clot in her lung. She was 28 at the time.
My dad worked 14 hour days 7 days a week, and we were still broke and living with my aunt in my grandparent's house.

Bad stuff happens. Life isn't fair. All those cliches that nobody ever pays attention to.

What do you mean "stolen"?

it's a kinda a long story. My truck was taken because of a horrible manger
Who put up signs that say one thing and told the tow truck other. basically trick people into parking So they get towed away. I took my sister home infront of her apartment theirs a sign that was put up that says 30min parking in small red latters No overnight, which as far as i know and the cops agree mean no parking over night.he was trying to say No it mean no parking at night. anyway all in five minutes i park walk my sister to the door and come back just in time to see my truck pulled away.wrongfully towed because I was clearly right to park their for no more then 30mins. Well the the manger gave out misleading information told the tow truck company tow any car here AT NIGHT.I saw the truck read the sign the tow truck knew how long i was their he did it because
he could he saw me walk in the gate helping carry my sister stuff and as soon as i was out of view took it. leaving me to left to pay $176 that i don;t have
for something that WAS CLEARLY their fault but i still had to pay for it.

I want after the manger how called the cops. When they showed up i calmly as i could approached them and told them all that had happen and they said i was right he was wrong but it's on him and not the company so i still had to pay. They also told me he getx a percent of every car towed. he's a crook plain and simple he put up a rule he himself is not following. he was very unprofessional refused to give me any information that he is supposed to give. The towing company would not give any information as where their were locate till the cops ordered them too. the only reason the cops showed is because he got scared and called them which was my intent anyway they wouldn't come for me so i figured i'll give them a reason to come out then explain what was happen so till like 1am i was under the impression my car was "stolen" by a crooked towing company. if the cops didn't come out I still would not have gotten my truck.because they stone walled me at every turn.

Dude, that's so screwed up that I had to read it twice.

yeah. I'm sure it also doesn't help that i wrote it fast.
i probably should of read it twice too.

All well you see this happen all the time.
i was gonna smash the fuck out of his car. slash his tires stomp is window in and probably because i was pissed enough flip the bitch Cause it was park right next to me. Theirs suppose to be a camera but i was told their isn't though the only reason he would parking their is to keep his car safe because it a well lit spot and probably to trick people into parking their. I mean he more the passed the 30min time limit and was their overnight but was not towed why should anyone else. He's lucky i didn't have my truck should told my brother to bring his and some chains I was fixing to move it specially when i heard theirs no camera but i know as soon as i do some their be video.

i'm just sick of this shit people getting treated like shit by other people who try and bring the law on their side through technicality's you know. he gonna get his plain and simple.

From my understanding your younger then me I'm glad things already might have smooth out for you but they haven't for me. everyday i swear i'm one bad day from really hurting someone who i hope deserves it if i get pushed that far come close believe me i'm an example of the how much shit can you take before enough is enough i can tell you it's getting close to boiling over...
